Chanel

A while back, I came across this puzzle. But whenever I try to extract the answer, I always get the same nonsense string that starts with K and ends with T.

For all problems, assume that air resistance is negligible, and that the Earth's acceleration due to gravity is \(10\ m/s^2\). Remember that the base unit of mass is the kilogram. This resource may be helpful for solving the problems.

  • Amy is piloting a spaceship in a straight line. The ship has a total mass of \(I\). If the ship maintains a constant momentum of 30 teragram metres per second while cruising, how far does it travel in 100 kiloseconds?

  • Ben is in a space station orbiting the Earth at a constant distance of \(1\times10^{-3}\ A\) from the Earth's centre. The space station has an angular velocity of 2 milliradians per second. How much distance does it cover in a time of 1 ronnasecond?

  • Chanel is a ghost. Chanel has a mass of 1 rontogram. If she accelerated by receiving a force of 2 micronewtons in some direction, how long would it take her to reach a speed of \(1\times10^{-27}\ B\) per second from a stop?

  • Daniel boarded a private jet with a total mass of 10 megagrams. The plane takes off from the Earth’s surface, and ascends with a steady rate of climb of 10 metres per second. How much gravitational potential energy does the plane have \(1\times10^{24}\ C\) after leaving the ground?

  • Evelyn's battery can supply \(D\) of electrical energy over 25 teraseconds, and she uses it to power a circuit. If this results in a current of 100 amperes coursing through the circuit, what is its total resistance?

  • Fred invented a semiconductor material with a resistivity of 4 ohm-metres. If the cross-section of a wire made of said semiconductor is a rectangle measuring 1 by 3 micrometres, how long would a wire need to be to have a resistance of \(1\times10^{15}\ E\)?

  • Grace bought a laser pointer that emits electromagnetic radiation with a wavelength of \(1\times10^5\ F\). If the speed of light is exactly 300 megametres per second, what is the frequency of the waves?

  • Hilary plays the world's smallest violin, which has a single string that is tuned to a pitch with a fundamental frequency of \(G\). The string has a length of 5 micrometres from nut to bridge and a linear density of 40 kilograms per metre. What is its tension?

  • Ian is launching a rocket from the Earth's surface with a thrust of \(3\times10^{-8}\ H\). The rocket’s net upward acceleration at liftoff is 30 metres per second squared (after taking the Earth’s gravity into account). What is its wet mass? (Express this answer in grams)
